History of the BBQ

• The Sertoma Club of Lancaster held its first chicken BBQ in the spring of 1953, just one year after the club was chartered. The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce president, Tom Baldrige, stated: “There is no more impactful one-day fundraising event than the Sertoma Chicken Barbecue.” Each year on the third Saturday of May, the Lancaster Sertomans serve over 24,000+ chicken dinners.
